U.S. State Privacy Notice
This notice supplements JHBRIDGE's Privacy Policy and provides additional information required by U.S. state privacy laws for residents of states with comprehensive privacy legislation.
Effective Date: June 2026
Applicability
This U.S. State Privacy Notice supplements JHBRIDGE Translation Services' Privacy Policy and provides additional disclosures and rights information for residents of U.S. states that have enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws. These states currently include California (under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, collectively "CCPA/CPRA"), Virginia (Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, "VCDPA"), Colorado (Colorado Privacy Act, "CPA"), Connecticut (Connecticut Data Privacy Act, "CTDPA"), and other states with applicable privacy legislation that may take effect during the term of this notice.
The rights and disclosures described in this notice apply only where and to the extent required by the applicable state privacy law in the resident's state, and only when JHBRIDGE meets the legal thresholds for applicability under that law. Many state privacy laws apply only to businesses that meet certain revenue, data volume, or other thresholds. JHBRIDGE provides this notice proactively as a transparency measure, but the applicability of specific rights depends on the requirements of the relevant state law.
If you are not a resident of a state with a comprehensive privacy law, or if JHBRIDGE does not meet the applicability thresholds under your state's law, the rights described in this notice may not apply to you. However, JHBRIDGE is committed to handling all personal information responsibly and transparently, regardless of legal requirements.
Categories of Personal Information
JHBRIDGE may collect and process the following categories of personal information from consumers and clients: identifiers such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and account credentials; commercial information including your service history, project records, invoices, payment history, and transaction details; and internet or electronic network activity information such as your IP address, browser type and version, pages visited on our website, referring URLs, and interaction data collected through standard web technologies.
JHBRIDGE may also collect professional or employment-related information from individuals who apply for interpreter or translator positions, including work history, language certifications, educational background, and references. Additionally, JHBRIDGE receives document and file content that clients upload for translation services, which may contain personal information about third parties such as names, addresses, dates of birth, identification numbers, or other personal details embedded in the documents submitted for translation.
The specific categories of personal information collected depend on the nature of your interaction with JHBRIDGE. For example, a client who submits a medical document for translation will have different categories of information processed than an individual who simply visits our website or requests a quote. JHBRIDGE collects only the personal information that is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in the following section.
Purposes of Collection
Personal information is collected and used by JHBRIDGE for the following business and operational purposes: to provide translation, interpretation, and related language services as requested by clients; to process payments, generate invoices, and manage financial transactions; to communicate with clients and prospective clients about their projects, quotes, deliverables, and account status; and to respond to inquiries, support requests, and feedback submitted through our website, email, or phone.
JHBRIDGE also uses personal information to improve and optimize its services, including analyzing service usage patterns, identifying areas for quality improvement, and developing new service offerings. Personal information may be used to detect, prevent, and address fraud, security incidents, and unauthorized activities, and to protect the rights, property, and safety of JHBRIDGE, its clients, and the public.
Additionally, personal information is used to comply with applicable legal obligations, including tax reporting, record-keeping requirements, and responses to lawful requests from government authorities. JHBRIDGE may also use personal information to enforce its agreements, including its Terms of Service, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
No Sale of Personal Information
JHBRIDGE does not sell personal information in the traditional or ordinary meaning of selling data for monetary consideration. JHBRIDGE does not provide personal information to third parties in exchange for money or other valuable consideration as part of its business model. The translation and interpretation services provided by JHBRIDGE are the core of its business, and the monetization of client data is not part of JHBRIDGE's operations.
JHBRIDGE does not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes unless separately disclosed in a specific notice or consent mechanism. JHBRIDGE may share personal information with service providers and contractors who assist with business operations (such as payment processors, cloud hosting providers, and email delivery services), but these disclosures are made for business purposes and are governed by contracts that restrict the service providers' use of the information.
If JHBRIDGE's data sharing practices change in the future to include activities that could be characterized as "selling" or "sharing" under applicable state privacy laws, JHBRIDGE will update this notice and provide any required disclosures, opt-out mechanisms, or consent processes before engaging in such activities.
Your Rights
Depending on your state of residence and the applicable legal thresholds, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information. These rights may include the right to know what categories of personal information JHBRIDGE collects, the purposes for which it is collected and used, and the categories of third parties with which it is shared. You may also have the right to access specific pieces of personal information that JHBRIDGE has collected about you.
You may have the right to request that JHBRIDGE delete personal information it has collected from you, subject to certain exceptions. Exceptions to the right to delete may include situations where the information is necessary to complete a transaction, provide a requested service, comply with a legal obligation, detect security incidents, or exercise or defend legal claims. You may also have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information held by JHBRIDGE.
Under certain state laws, you may have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As noted above, JHBRIDGE does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of your privacy rights. JHBRIDGE will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercise your privacy rights.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To submit a request to exercise any of the rights described in this notice, you may contact JHBRIDGE by sending an email to contact@jhbridgetranslation.com with the subject line "Privacy Rights Request." In your request, please describe the right you wish to exercise, provide sufficient information for JHBRIDGE to verify your identity (such as your name, email address associated with your account, and any relevant project or invoice numbers), and specify any particular personal information your request relates to.
JHBRIDGE will acknowledge receipt of your request within a reasonable timeframe and will respond to your request within the timeframes required by applicable state privacy law. For California residents, JHBRIDGE will respond within 45 calendar days of receiving a verifiable request, with the possibility of a 45-day extension if reasonably necessary. For residents of other states, JHBRIDGE will respond within the timeframes specified by the applicable state law.
If JHBRIDGE is unable to fulfill your request, JHBRIDGE will provide a written explanation of the reasons why, including any applicable exceptions or exemptions. You may appeal a denial of your request by contacting JHBRIDGE at the same email address with the subject line "Privacy Rights Appeal." JHBRIDGE will process appeals in accordance with applicable state law requirements.
Identity Verification
Before processing a privacy rights request, JHBRIDGE may require verification of your identity to prevent unauthorized access to personal information. Identity verification is an important safeguard that protects you from having your personal information disclosed to, deleted at the request of, or modified by an unauthorized person.
Verification methods may include confirming information you previously provided to JHBRIDGE (such as your name, email address, phone number, or project details), sending a verification code to the email address or phone number associated with your account, or other reasonable verification methods appropriate to the sensitivity of the request and the nature of the information involved.
If JHBRIDGE cannot reasonably verify your identity using the information available, JHBRIDGE may request additional documentation or information. JHBRIDGE will not use personal information collected for verification purposes for any other purpose. If identity verification cannot be completed, JHBRIDGE may be unable to process your request and will inform you accordingly.
Authorized Agents
You may designate an authorized agent to submit privacy rights requests on your behalf. An authorized agent is a person or entity that you have authorized to act on your behalf for the purpose of exercising your privacy rights under applicable state law.
If an authorized agent submits a request on your behalf, JHBRIDGE may require the agent to provide proof of written authorization from you, such as a signed power of attorney or a written and signed authorization letter. Even when an authorized agent submits a request, JHBRIDGE may contact you directly to verify your identity and confirm that you authorized the agent to act on your behalf.
Authorized agents should submit requests using the same contact methods described in the "How to Exercise Your Rights" section above and should clearly indicate that they are acting as an authorized agent. Requests from authorized agents that cannot provide satisfactory proof of authorization may be denied.
Limitations and Exceptions
JHBRIDGE may decline or limit privacy rights requests where permitted by applicable state law. Circumstances where requests may be declined include situations where JHBRIDGE cannot verify the identity of the requestor, where the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive (for example, due to its repetitive nature), where the requested personal information is required for compliance with a legal obligation or defense of legal claims, or where other legal exceptions apply.
Personal information that is necessary for JHBRIDGE to complete a transaction or provide a service you requested, fulfill the terms of a warranty or product recall, detect or prevent security incidents or illegal activity, comply with applicable laws or regulations, or perform a contract between JHBRIDGE and the requestor may be exempt from deletion requests under applicable state privacy laws.
JHBRIDGE reserves the right to limit abusive, repetitive, or unfounded requests where permitted by applicable law. JHBRIDGE will not charge a fee for processing privacy rights requests unless the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in which case JHBRIDGE may charge a reasonable fee or decline the request, as permitted by applicable state law. JHBRIDGE will inform the requestor of any applicable fees before processing the request.
Changes
JHBRIDGE may update this U.S. State Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in applicable state privacy laws, changes in JHBRIDGE's data practices, or other developments. When material changes are made, JHBRIDGE will update the effective date at the top of this notice and may provide additional notification through its website or other appropriate channels.
JHBRIDGE encourages you to review this notice periodically to stay informed about how your personal information is handled under applicable state privacy laws. Your continued use of JHBRIDGE services after changes to this notice constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated terms, though it does not waive any rights you may have under applicable law to receive specific notice of changes.
As new state privacy laws are enacted and existing laws are amended, JHBRIDGE will evaluate their applicability and update this notice as appropriate. JHBRIDGE's goal is to provide transparent and accessible information about its privacy practices to all users, regardless of their state of residence.
